need help w/ RemStar Auto Bi-level

Post by twb119 » Mon Aug 28, 2006 4:25 pm

Post this a wile back.

When I had my sleep study done they said I had a AHI of 94 and oxygen down to 74 . When I when in for my trituration study the next week I felt better the next morning than I have in years. 3 days after the trituration study the sleep lab calls asked if I could come by that afternoon to get my cpap machine. So I when in and was given a Resmed (i looked all over the machine and it doesn't say what model) with a heated Hum with the pressure set to 19. When i asked about a Auto the tech said it wouldn't work well for my pressure also when i asked about a c-flex machine he said they don't work well.
The first night was ok on the cpap but woke up with a swollen face. But the nights 2-4 where hell waking up 5 to 8 times a night feeling like tire being aired up and having a hard time exhaling. I have a appointment with my sleep doc on monday 8/7/06.

What would be some good questions to ask and what machine to push for.

After much kicking and screaming with my sleep Doc he is allowing a RemStar Auto- Bilevel. Now i need the secret manual, the DME will not let me have it. Does anyone know where to get one or could somebody e-mail it to me or something???

Also i am a little confused on what version of the software i need for this machine. Is it hard to work with? Is it worth the money?? The insurance will not pay for it and when i asked the DME guy he was pissed that i knew about it at all.

I was going to buy it out right and try to save me and the insuance company some money but it would be (out of network) and cost me double than letting them pay through the nose to the DME, guess trying to save money makes to much sense to them.

How well does the Hybired mask work at higher pressures? The high is going to be 16-20 at first.

Still learning so if anybody has more suggestions please let me know.

Thankyou for any help,
Thomas B

I use version 1.582 of EncorePro with my Auto BiPAP.

I will send you a PM about the clinicians manual.

I also use higher pressures (set currently for 13 EPAP min./ 21 IPAP max), but I have not tried the Hybrid. I tried the Swift, but I don't like the feeling of the air blowing up my nose at high pressures. Since the Hybrid also has nasal pillows, I am not planning to try it. I have had good results with the Mirage Activa nasal mask.

My wife tried the Hybred with the Auto BiPap at 18 and did not like the Hybred at all, at that pressure.
