What do the numbers mean??

Post by Guest » Fri Aug 25, 2006 10:09 am

Hi--I'm new to the world of CPAP. I have an S8 elite with the heated humidifier. My CPAP pressure is 14 and ramping is 7. So far i don't seem to be having any trouble with sleeping with it. I have a respironics comfort gel mask, and it seems very comfortable to me--I don't feel hardly any pressure on my face from the straps being too tight, and I don't smme to have any airleaks.
My question is this though--when I look at the efficacy data--what do the the letters and numbers mean--like AHI,AI,HI--when I see those numbers--what is that actually telling me?? My DME didn't explain any of this to me, in fact she actually never even showed my how to access them. I learned how to access those numbers from a previous post here.
Anyway--I'm just curious as to what they all mean. Any help and replies would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

Check the CPAPopedia (link at the top of each page) for great definitions of common terms.
