It appears that animals help each other out when they have sleep apnea

The picture is funny.

And actually, yes, bulldogs can have some evidence of apnea. Short stocky necks? sound familiar?

While the research used plugs in their airway to artificially create apnea during sleep, some of the first research into apnea causing daytime hypertension was done in bulldogs.

And there is a colony of dogs at Stanford University that have narcolepsy/cataplexy. The so called "fainting goats" may also have some evidence of cataplexy.

But animals sure seem to get much more sleep than we do. I've never seen animal insomnia.

I don't know about apnea, but beagles are notorious snorers. It is usually due to an elongated soft palate in many breeds of dogs, especially those with shortened muzzles in comparison to the backskull length. I don't think the beagles suffer apnea, because they have way too much energy during the day, although they do tend to nap a lot now that I think of it.

That is definitely the most cutest animal picture I have seen yet!! Thanks for the SMILE!!

Hmmm....... You know, you have asked an interesting question..... My dog, which is a full breed Keshound (she looks like a wolf) will snore and stop breathing sometimes and I never realized it to be a problem until this question came up.... Makes me wonder.... no wonder she keeps trying to go after my mask! And I thought she just didn't like seeing mommy with a goofy looking thing on her face!
Laughter never killed anyone..... Go ahead, laugh! It's good for you!! ;-)

I've never heard of dog apnea...but I have heard of catnapea...having to take many short naps during the day!
