Hello to all:
I'm having a split night study done tomorrow night; any advice or tips appreciated. I've had sleep problems for years, glad to finally be scheduled for a study. The last few months or so, i've had a few nights where I wake up feeling like I was going to die, can't breathe, left hand tingling. My wife says I usually snore loud enough to shake the windows. We have found that I sometimes sleep better with the ceiling fan on. I gather that I should request a copy of my study in the morning and a copy of the RX. I'm open to all suggestions and advice.
Thank you
Split night study tomorrow night

Yes, get a copy of your sleep study and your Rx when it is available (may not be the next morning depending on your doctor and sleep center) Also if the doctor writes anything else like a letter of medical necessity in the future.
Start researching your insurance benefits and restrictions now yourself.
Options could include a number of local DME's, bill-my-insurance, or buy your self and get reimbursed, or buy yourself and no reimbursement if it costs you less.
Do not be satisifed with "we will fax your information to the DME". There may be many choices as to where you get your equipment and you should decide.
Remember or write down what equipment and mask you used during the study. Some places will let you take the mask home in the morning. If so do it, another choice of an expensive mask may be welcome in the future.
Research the possible machines and features now and decide what you would be happy with. That way when you doc says here is your prescription and you think you want something else you will know what to tell him/her (size, cflex or not, auto or not, data or not, heated humidifier or not...)
