I have just ordered a REMStar Auto and I'm really looking forward to it!
I have a question - what happens to the pressure setting when you wake during the night? How quickly does it recognize the absence of events and decay to the minimum setting. I have a insomnia problem, unrelated to OSA, which means I wake during the night and have trouble getting back to sleep. Breathing against the 12 cm H2O of the CPAP doesn't help matters during these times and I'm looking to the APAP tohelp by reducing the pressure. I'm hoping the C-Flex will also help.
AutoPAP while awake?

I have been using the remstar auto with cflex for about a month and find it very comfortable. I switched from a fixed pressure machine set at 10cm and find it much more comfortable using the new machine, which is set with the widest range 4cm-20cm.
I wake in the night sometimes and out of interest look at the pressure. Generally, it seems to be around 5cm, which implies either it has responded to my awakening by reducing the pressure already, or I awoke during a period when I didn't need the pressure anyway. I've never woken up with the pressure any higher than 5.5cm.
I've got the reader/software on order, so I'll soon be able to check out how high the pressure is going during the night, but it is certainly only going higher when I'm asleep.
Enjoy the remstar!
