It seems that once that chincup slips over my chin there is just the slightest bit of a suction effect?? It seems that way to me any way. 3 nights so far and the mask is definitely a keeper.
Krousseau,
Have you looked at your readings (AI and HI) with this Hybrid? Last night on the REMstar Auto CPAP with C-Flex machine, both my AI and HI were 0.0 with 90% pressure. I don't know if it is the chin flap or the large amount of air the Hybrid delivers into my nares and mouth in combination with C-Flex which makes the exhalation easier. I feel absolutely great!

[quote="inacpapfog"]That "suctioning" effect seems to keep my jaw from dropping backward too!
No doubt this is why my AHI's are now so much lower!
Before, when I was using a chinstrap, once my jaw relaxed, the tension of the chinstrap would actually pull my jaw back and cause obstruction.
Now. my relaxed jaw is held in position by the Hybrid's chin cup, so the airway is not ascompromised as before!
Sure explains things for me!

Getting used to the clips.
AHI actually a little higher after 6 nights. I think I have the right cushion/pillow combo but I'm going to try another size just to make sure. I think I sleep on my back more with this mask. It also leaks more then the FP 406 did. In fact the 406 very rarely leaked and when it did the noise woke me up. The Hybrid will leak and I won't wake up for several minutes. It may be the softer headgear of the Hybrid. Beefing up the headgear be a definite modification-though don't want to get it too tight until the area under my nose "toughens up" some more. Got a small blister and some initial soreness which is nearly gone now with use of a "blister" bandaid.
Faced with the choice between changing one's mind and proving that there is no need to do so, almost everyone gets busy on the proof.....Galbraith's Law

WOW! Now, I'm definitely going to get the Auto CPAP. I feel refreshed when I wake up ever since I started using the Hybrid but I want to see the numbers. Did your pressure change too? I'm at 14 cm, would sure like it to go down a cm or two.
Cheers!

Pressure drop? You bet!
My nightly pressure was running between 9 -10.
Now, with the Hybrid, my average is 7 - 7.2!
I know, I know....hard to believe! Guess this new mask just suits me better!
Funny part, if I had stayed on a straight pressure cpap, my prescribed pressure of 8 would be too high for me to be blasted with all night long. Even the data reveals that the majority of time my pressure needs are around 6! PTL for apap!!!

Inacpapfog, I can fully believe that. I have read numerous posts (even on other forums) that this Hybrid is giving lower readings and pressure. I'm ordering an Auto CPAP with C-Flex. Thanks for pushing me over the edge.
Cheers!
