Anyone read the new article at the top of the page? Looks like a quick new test for truck drivers. It may help our roads be safer but it may also hurt. Just think how many truck drivers have sleep apnea and are driving down your street.

I wonder if they take the test, if they will really use the cpap machine. Could be a big waste of money for an insurance company-have the guy do the test and get the machine and not use it. Sure is a good idea tho.

I was thinking more along the lines of goverment or trucking companies finding out their driver has sleep apnea and then keeping them out of a truck unless they treat it with the use of a cpap. There are alot of cpaps that record compliance.....

I had a patient in the sleep lab in for a re-titration. He used a Respironics Remstar Pro because he was a trucker and had to turn in his smart card to the DOT ever so often. I guess the government is really cracking down on sleepy tuckers.

I feel bad that he has to go through the extra hassle to keep his job, cause he is such a nice guy and really good with his pap.

I am glad that there are people who are concerned about the safety of the trucking industry.
