"No SD Card Detected" Resmed S9 For Her

Post by Sonnyboy » Sat May 27, 2017 7:12 pm

Hi,

I am using the Resmed S9 for her.
My machine is giving a "No SD Card Detected" message when I turn it on even though the SD card is correctly placed.
I am using windows 8.1.
How do I fix this?

Thank you

First thing I would do is try using a new/different SD card if it were me.
See if maybe by chance there's something wrong with the SD card.

Hi Pugsy,
Thank you
I have a spare unused Resmed SD card and it happens with this one also.
I have a Resmed Airsense 10 autoset and this machine functions perfectly with either card.
Any more ideas?

If you have one of those compressed air sprayer cans, you can blow out the card reader in your cpap...just blow air into the card reader slot. You can also reboot your cpap by pulling the plug and leaving it out for say 5 minutes.

I've had this problem and fixed it with the compressed air thing.

If the SD card isn't the problem then the only thing left is the S9.

It's possible that the part of the machine that does the writing to the SD card has failed for some reason.
I would try playing with it several times to see if it finally will recognize the card.
It's also possible that some dirt/dust/whatever has gotten into that little slot preventing contact.
Maybe take one of those cans of canned/compressed air used for electronics and giving it a good blow out to maybe clean it out...if there is debris in there.
That's all that I would know to do to try. We don't know for sure it is debris...it could be that the writing to the SD card part of the machine has up and died.
Someone had a brand new DreamStation the other day with that very problem. It can happen...not common but not impossible.

Thank you RogersSC and Pugsy,

Compressed air and rebooting are not working.
I will keep playing with it for a while.

If anyone else has any ideas please let me know.

The good news is my regular machine, the airsense 10 auto for her, has no problems [no longer on warranty].
I purchased the S9 as a backup and liked it so well I just kept using it. I guess this is a good thing because the defect appeared now while the warranty is active.

Thank you for your help.

If the very same card works in another machine, then I would suspect a defect in the machine, as you already have.

Just be careful using the same card in more than one machine, as some machines may reformat them or otherwise erase unrecognized data.

xxyzx wrote: since you mention win 8.1
is the problem on the pc or in the resmed

did you file protect the card before using it in the pc

the pc may well have written crap on it that confuses the resmed
you must file protect the sd card before using it in win 8 and up

then you must UNprotect it for resmed

failing either can cause problems with the sd crd
If the problem was Windows writing that little text file to the card the message would be "invalid card do you wish to erase".
Since the message says "no SD card detected" that means the problem is with the machine not being able to find any SD card much less determine if it is valid or not.

The problem is in the machine and unrelated to write protect or not or Windows. It can't even find the card to see if it is okay with the card.

Ahhh
But if you had read everything....she used that card in another cpap machine and it worked just fine....so nothing wrong with the card.

Thank you everybody,

I believe Pugsy is correct.

The SD card worked perfectly last night in the Airsense 10.
The S9 left the same message "No SD Card Detected" when I checked this morning.

The SD card slot on the S9 has always seemed a bit rough to me. The card never moved in and out smoothly as with the Airsense 10.
I always thought this was simply a difference between the machines and never considered a defect until Pugsy mentioned this yesterday.
