Life span of P10

Post by Cardsfan » Sun May 21, 2017 11:53 am

I just switched masks to the P10. The headgear seems flimsy. How long have you been able to make it last? How long does the pillow last? Any tips on extending the life of the parts?

The headgear is washable , and restores easily to like-new condition.
Hot sudsy water helps restore the stretchiness, and I squeeze the rinse water out
with a bath towel before air drying it.
I can also machine wash and dry it in a lingerie bag. Both ways work fine.
I have several that I rotate, and I have no idea which ones are the oldest.
Your skin and cleaning regimen determines how long you can use the pillows before replacing--be gentle.
The mesh is a bit tricky--(enter cleaning p10 mesh into an internet search for discussions of how we can do this.)

The worst thing about the headgear is that it can stretch out and become a little too loose. Especially bothersome if someone has the regular size which is a little larger to start with and a person's head tends to run on the small side. You can buy some extra time by washing about once a month in really hot water and it will shrink somewhat but after a time it quits shrinking. I had this happen with the regular size...got about 10 months of use out of it before the hot water trick didn't help.
Then I switched to the "for Her" headgear which is a little smaller and so far I haven't even had to shrink it yet and I am probably on 7 or 8 months of use with it (some time off for trial of the Brevida for a month).

The nasal pillows...I got 10 months out of the first one and I swapped it out before I swapped the headgear last October I guess it was because of leaking. I thought it was the pillows being tired but it ended up being the headgear. Now that I look back on it I probably could have got more life out of that pillow. At any rate I have always been able to get months and months out of any nasal pillow that I used.
I don't do anything special about cleaning either...except I don't wash anything very often. Never have because I am lazy and they didn't seem to be all that yucky. About the only time I ever did much cleaning was when I had a cold and a drippy nose.

I think that you will likely find that things will last longer than first impressions might give you.
The headgear is the weakest link IMHO in terms of life span. It's so common that I think they are including some little clips to take up the slack or at least the last P10 I got had them.

I used to rotate things with the Swift FX...haven't done that with my P10 stuff....one headgear and one nasal pillow...since last October early Novemenber. Might get washed once a month if it's lucky.
