My kids were just a little older than that when my husband got his bi-pap. We had him try the mask on while we were in the living room so they could see it, ask questions, and let them try it on so they wouldn't be surprised or scared when they saw him sleeping with it. They mostly laughed because they thought he looked funny.

Cpap, like diabetes care, should never be a source of shame.
Providing good examples of health care is our obligation to the next generation.

+1

Making a game of it for young kids is the best thing to do. Let them put it on, feel the air, etc. That's what I did with my granddaughter. Once she was comfortable with it she never asked another question. Occasionally she still giggles at me and I just giggle back. With the young ones, it's all about making it a game.

Kids are far more resilient than they are given credit for.

Use your CPAP! You want mommy to be there for the kids when they get older!

Which is more disturbing explaining to them the CPAP and what it does or why you are in that box with the handles on the sides instead of watching them grow up! Jim
