Thanks for clarifying, I'm sure that Tahera will do whatever they both feel comfortable with, and whatever that is will be a step in the right direction for surepalerider wrote:large and frequent adjustments are appropriate until you get 'close' to the right settings, then small ones a few days apart are good, not so much so your 'body gets used to it', but because sleep varies from night to night, and even from hour to hour, so you have to make your fine tuning adjustments based on averages, not single nights results.Hannibal 2 wrote:Personally, I find it better to make small adjustments at a time to give my body a chance to adjust and leave for at least 3 days before making another change. Re: Will we ever adjust?
Hi Hannibal,
Thank you so much for checking on us. The first night on 10 was fine, with a slight snore, but last night my DH has decided to put it up to 11 as he felt that he needed more air. I can't remember what exactly woke me up but I had a feeling that it was a very strong snore. We were planning to checking the chart to see the results and will definitely update you.
Could too much air cause snoring, and would you recommend to keep using it for a few days or go back to 10?
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Re: Will we ever adjust?
The only thing I experienced from increasing pressure was aerophagia (swallowed air) which can leave you feeling a little bloated, in extreme cases it can be painful but mine was tolerable and I found that activated charcoal tablets worked well to disperse/absorb the gas (just in case he experience this).
I would not expect increased pressure to cause snores and if he is comfortable with 11 I would not reduce it, but let's see what Pugsy and others think. Definitely worth getting the data up.
How did you sleep?

Re: Will we ever adjust?
Thanks Hannibal. Great advise as usual.
I didn't sleep well again. I woke up from a sound which I am not sure was him snoring or the noise of the machine. I slept in a different room afterwards as I needed a good nights sleep.
I will post the results as soon as we download them.

Hey, you're welcome. We're all here to learn, teach and share our experiences. Others here have far more knowledge than me and may agree or disagree, but you have to do whatever you feel comfortable with, what works for me may not work for you. One thing I know for sure, taking control of my own therapy was the best thing I did and I'm sure you'll feel the same about that too very soon.

Re: Will we ever adjust?
Like PR says...too much air won't cause snoring.
Depending on how much snoring is seen there still may need to be a slight pressure adjustment.
We don't normally get to excited about a rare snore here or there though but what was showing on those first reports wouldn't qualify as "rare".
Also...there's a data point called flow limitations that the DreamStation Pro (in cpap mode) doesn't show because FL flagging is turned off in cpap mode. The absence of any FL flags on the reports doesn't mean they didn't happen.
We need auto mode for FL flagging to be turned on.
At some point I think that a short trial of using trial apap mode (I think the Pro has a short term trial of apap mode available) would be in order to check FL status along with the snores.
Could you scroll through the "mode" menu selection to see what else might be available to you to choose from?

Re: Will we ever adjust?
Hi there!
Thank you very much for the replies. The last days have been very hectic and we didn't get the chance to get the information from the machine. I will do so very soon and will post it.
I found that last night the machine was very loud and my dh wasn't sleeping very well and kept tossing and turning so I slept in a different room as I was afraid I wouldn't get any sleep again.
I really hope that this will end soon as I am sooo tired!!
In regards of the snoring we will try and see the reports and if it hasn't changed possible try 12?

Re: Will we ever adjust?
I think if your next go-to is just to move the pressure higher again it's not the best idea. At this point you really need to post some results and maybe reconsider mask fit.

Re: Will we ever adjust?
I agree with Julie, you need to get some data posted. If the machine was noisier than usual, it could indicate a possible leak. If he is in large leak territory and therefore not receiving adequate pressure, that could induce snoring. It may be that the mask needs tightening a little to cope with the increased pressure. How much he is snoring, you're not sure because you're trying to focus on getting sleep yourself. He may be restless because his body is adjusting to the change, or because there are possibly more events.
All of this is assumption though, let's look at his data.

Re: Will we ever adjust?
I would like you to see if you have trial apap mode available on the Pro.
I would like to use apap mode, if we can, to see what the machine wants to do for whatever snores might be happening.
If you still see a LOT of snores on the reports then yeah...maybe more pressure.
But if you are seeing just a random snore here or there...no.
If unsure what qualifies for random or a LOT...post the report.
