Just curious if there is a machine out there that goes under 4.0 for pressure.
On my back I require a pressure at about 8 but on my side it seems that even 4.0 is too high. I have UARS and events are not picked up by my machine so I go by how I feel, how many times I wake up and nocturia. I retrained myself to sleep on my side to see if i could get by without cpap. It seems however that even a pressure of 4 disturbs my sleep.
Without cpap I will still wake up 2-3 times to urinate and wake up unrefreshed. With cpap at 4.0 is the same.
Thanks
Cpap pressure below 4?
Re: Cpap pressure below 4?
There is a machine (not sure which) that starts at 3, however 99% of people who've written in find they cannot breathe at 4, feel like they're suffocating, so I find it hard to imagine how you'd manage at 3, let alone derive any serious benefit from it.

The Devilbiss machines (both apap and cpap models) seem to have a 3 cm starting point. I don't know of any others though.Pressure Range 3-20 cm H20 (.5 increments)

I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.
Re: Cpap pressure below 4?
I wouldn't trust a pressure that low to clear the carbon dioxide that you exhale. You would get an awful headache.
Re: Cpap pressure below 4?
It appears that pressures under 6 are actually intended for pediatric patients, not adults. My guess is that you keep running to the bathroom because you either have a condition unrelated to apnea or your pressure isn't HIGH enough to resolve your problems. I know pretty much nothing about your specific condition other than it is not treated by cpap but another kind of machine.

I think you've got it bass-ackwards. Your sleep apnea therapy is (much) less than optimal.mangos21 wrote:Just curious if there is a machine out there that goes under 4.0 for pressure.

You should be (according to your words) setting your machine to 8 cm.
You haven't told us exactly which machine you're using.
You haven't told us if you're monitoring your therapy with software (if you have a data-capable machine)
If you're not monitoring your therapy with software, you have no idea what you're doing (or why) and should not be setting pressures lower than prescribed. We call that " dial wingin' ".
As you're describing, your therapy is virtually no different than no therapy at all.
