Well, in my continuing saga looking for the "magic bullet" of success in mask use, I switched back over to my Swift last night after a tough night on the Activa. My sinuses have been acting up a bit. No doubt due to the crappy heat ad bad air we've had around here for a while (I live in Utah, can you say DRY). So I thought I'd try some resetting and such. I reset my REMstar auto to min 8 and max 12. I upped the humidifier to 4 from 3. I heard so much lately about how humidity can help the sinuses.
I added the chin strap (the red stretchy one that isn't tight enough but I guess better than nothing) to keep my mouth closed. I actually tightened the Swift back and top straps up more than I'm used to, but wanted to make sure they stayed in place this time. I used it last week loosely to find it lost seal when I slept on my side and moved a bit.
Low and behold it stayed put, never lost a seal and I had nice open sinuses after a while. I woke up to open sinuses (this is unusual to say the least) and felt rested for once. I must be lucky but don't experience sore nares from this headgear. I use the large ones as well. I'm going to try again tonight and see if I'm on a roll. Oh and by the way, interestingly enough, when awakening, I looked to see what pressure the APAP had settled upon after the night. It was on 9, right where my original sleep study indicated was the high point for avoidance of events. I'm looking forward to seeing the data at some point when I get a card reader, just to see if at any point it actually when even higher......
