Acid Reflex and Farting

Post by Tinsy » Wed Jan 18, 2017 2:35 pm

I have been doing some research and I read that CPAP can cause Reflex and Farting Problems. Has anyone else been bothered by this and if so what do you do to solve this problem?

If you are talking about aerophagia, if you do a search you will find lots of posts on it. My night time reflux stopped with cpap use. I was able to stop Prilosec and use Zantac, although that may not be the case for everyone.
Do you have both problems and when did it start?
To give better answers it would help to know what equipment you have. This will help show you how to register it. wiki/index.php/Registering_Equipment_in_User_Profile

Sure!
Here's a link to a forum search that should keep you busy for a bit.

The "problem" is ingesting air into the stomach. The "solutions" vary greatly. Anywhere from adjusting the pressure, changing sleeping positions, getting a bi-level machine to seeking medical remedies through surgery.

I have Barrets Esophagus, which is an erosion of the lining in my lower esophagus. It is caused by acid reflux. Before I started Cpap therapy I called my Gastroenterologist, and they said no problem, start the therapy. Hope this helps.

My gasterentologist (spelling??) switch me from CPAP mode to autopap mode. He felt that the constant pressure affected the flapper on my stomach. Switching to autopap did help. He thinks that therapy has weaken the muscle that controls the flapper and causing reflux. I suspect the lower pressures have helped me.
