Does anyone have catathrenia?

Post by joeljjk11 » Fri Jan 06, 2017 10:58 pm

So I discovered through research online that I think I actually have catathrenia and not sleep apnea. It is when you hold your breath when sleeping and slowly exhale, often times making squeaking or odd noises. I originally did a take home sleep study last year where I was diagnosed with complex apnea but I honestly think that the apnea events were really catathrenia events. So I now have an ASV machine and I have read online that CPAP machines can help catathrenia. What settings should I use on my ASV machine? There is very little information out there and my doctor is totally useless and probably has never even heard of catathrenia.

Just connecting this with your other recent thread so people have both. I can't help you with ASV settings. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=114871&p=1113431#p1113431

It might help to find a catathrenia support group--or if none exists--start one.
It sounds like an orphan condition, though perhaps more common than most believe.
