Hello Everyone,
I've been on CPAP for about 8 months now and have been benefiting from it. I have 2 masks -
1-Amara View FFM
2-Swift Fx (provided by Pugsy! THANKS TO HER)
Now with the Amara view FFM i generally have leaking issues, that is only on high pressure (16.5 etc). Do you guys have any ideas to stop it from leaking? ex. mask liner etc? Has anyone tried it?
Any feedback to help is appreciated.
Regards,
Irfie

Re: Amara View Full Face Mask - Leaking Issue
I use the Amara View mask also. I love/hate it because it is somewhat tricky to fit so as to avoid leaks. I am currently using a mask liner but I have not found that affects leaking although it makes it more comfortable not to have the mask cushion right up against my skin. Sometimes the mask leaks and other times it doesn't and it doesn't seem to matter whether I am using the liner or not. Most of the time now the leaks I am experiencing are not large leaks or there are occasional large leaks that SleepyHead describes as not a significant amount of large leaks. A couple of things I have found that have helped: Position the back strap as low on the back of your head and possible and position the top strap as far back on the top of your head as possible. The mask should fit just below your nose and not really pressing on your nose and the bottom portion of the mask should fit into that crease under your mouth and right above your chin. These adjustments cause the mask to have the top portion of the mask tilting ever so slightly outward. Please note that when I say "should", what I mean is that this is what worked for me, not necessarily any official type of "should". Make the strap adjustment changes in tiny increments and see how that works out. It took me awhile to find just the right adjustments that would help prevent leaks. Around the third night or so with the mask, I almost gave up on it. But now I mostly really like the mask.

Re: Amara View Full Face Mask - Leaking Issue
I wear my mask as loose as possible. During the night, your facial muscles will relax. If my mask is not real tight, it may not leak when I go to bed, but will leak later on when the muscles relax and higher pressures are needed treating apneas when they occur. I snug my mask a little more than I have to when going to bed to compensate for the face to relax and to handle the increased air pressures to treat the apneas. It is a little less comfortable, but compensates later on. This is what I call my "sweet spot".

With mine strap positions are important. After I put it on I have to pull the two bottom side straps down a little back at the jaw joint and the over the head strap needs to be a little towards the front.
Now that I have it figured out I go weeks without leaks.

The Amara View works for me but I too need an extra pull on the borrom straps. The mouth piece is just outside the corner of my mouth and i seal with it with a very full stache and beard. Looks this is my solution to major mouth breathing.

@sleepychar - Your idea of pushing the starp to the back of the head works good! I tried it last night and it was better. I mean i usually have pain under my nose due to the mask sliding upwards, and then i just thought maybe if i could try your idea it might work better, and guess what - It WORKED! Sliding the top strap towards the most back works good!
@Other - Thank you so much for the tips and solutions, I would try the techniques offered by each one of you and see which one works the best for me
