"Service required"

Post by Esteban » Sun Dec 04, 2016 1:31 am

Hello, friends.

Last week, my Philips Respironics BIPAP Auto suddenly stopped working. I took my unit to a local dealer, their technician fiddled with my machine for 30 seconds, then he said that my data card was full. My machine worked again as normal.

The technician tried to upsell me to purchase reports, then he wanted me to purchase a service, he wanted ti disassemble my machine and inspect it, I told him to stop wasting my time and I went on my way.

I slept great for several days.

Last night, my machine again stopped working. This time the blower is not blowing.

I have read here how to access the service settings on my device, and my card is unlocked.

Can anyone advise on how to reset this machine and to get it working again?

I fear that the technician set something to ensure that I would have to return to his business where he can insist that I need expensive service options.

My sincere thanks. I live in Bangkok. Which complicates everything.

Esteban

I think I would find another tech (and stop by Soi Cowboy on the way home for a few beers with my machine fixed!) - but that's just me

afaik data on the card is automatically deleted as needed such that the card never fills up. If you don't believe that just insert another card.

You never mentioned the make or model cpap. But if the error message is the one in your subj line then afaik it can only be fixed by a authorized repair facility.

If your machine is a 50 series machine then take a look at this thread :

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=106093&st=0&sk=t&sd ... 550+repair
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Get the Clinicians manual here : http://apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-press ... tup-manual

Thank you for that.

It just so happens that my BIPAP failed on Saturday night, Sunday is a work holiday, and Monday is the King's birthday, so no business is operating.

I am walking around in a daze, with a headache, from anoxia. I hate this.

I will return to the thieves in the local authorized dealership, on Tuesday, and I will probably give them whatever the hell that they want to fix my machine, because it will be cheaper than buying an entirely new unit. Perhaps.

I appreciate your willingness to help.

Have you tried unplugging and letting it set for a while before plugging it back in, since that is what you did when you took it in and it worked for a while? It might reset by unplugging. A temporary solution but might last till you can take it in.

A million times. I surfed around these forums and I figured out how to get into the service provider settings and the machine is just not putting out air.

This is one of those situations where a technician can take it apart and reseat the connections and everything will be fine, or I will have to pay for replacement parts and bench time. Or just buy a new one.

So be it.

Check out secondwindcpap.com for prices of new open box specials or gently used machines.
Compare with what your local DME is offering for a new machine and/or repair cost for the existing machine.
I don't know how repair costs where you live compare with here in the USA but often it ends up being cheaper to just buy a new machine here in the USA.
Secondwindcpap.com will ship internationally.

You still have not said the make or model you are having troubles with.
