Hi,
I am not too clear on which mechanism is used by an APAP machine to determine/optimise the best pressure for a specific person.
Is it increasing pressure (within a set range) when events are detected by the machine, until those become less frequent, or is it using some other logic?
Thanks,
Ted
how does APAP determine the optimum pressure?

Re: how does APAP determine the optimum pressure?
There are internal sensors and programming (algorithms) which analyze the user's breathing and adjust accordingly.tedtomato wrote:Hi,

Depending on the brand, model and settings, the machines respond to the breathing "events" (or anomalies) which they are programmed to detect and respond to.

it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, read this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4629962/ pay particular attention to table 2.tedtomato wrote:Hi,

Thanks so much PR for posting that article: fascinating, although I don't understand a lot of it.

I think robysue may have been the one that dug it up originally.PEF wrote:Thanks so much PR for posting that article: fascinating, although I don't understand a lot of it.

I don't understand either; but I am delighted that it does.
