What happens if I don't clean my humidifier water chamber?

I do sometimes leave it in the bathroom on a shelf. Won't do that again.

It happens when the conditions are right.
Or wrong, in this case.

Use distilled water. It's so cheap.
Empty it out every day so the humidifier can dry out.
Did I mention that it's so cheap?

Clean it periodically, e.g., every week or two.
Disinfect with vinegar.
Wash with F&C soap.
Rinse well.

It's so easy.

The Luddites who advise against this do others a disservice.

By doing all those things you are in fact going to introduce trouble where there was none to begin with if you use distilled water!

That bizarre post disqualifies you from attempting to help anyone.

It violates device manufacturer guidelines.
That's an absolute fact.

And in addition proves ChicagoGranny right.
You just eliminated any doubt.
