Best machine for most humidity
I have had two respironics CPAP machines. I need highest humidity available. Which company provides that?

Re: Best machine for most humidity
Add a stand alone humidifier

Re: Best machine for most humidity
No humidifier - stand alone or integrated - can deliver more humidity than the hose can hold. Therefore, you would want one with a heated hose.
Re: Best machine for most humidity
Even a heated hose might not offer a total solution if the ambient temperature in the room is low. Adding a stand-alone room humidifier (the opposite of the typical room de-humidifier) and cranking up the temperature in the room to help minimize rain-out might help. But, even with that, as D.H. points out all the air you are breathing is coming through the hose; the combination of ambient humidity and humidity from the humidifier still will be going through the hose. It sounds like a problem with no elegant solution because I think the last thing you would want would be breathing super-saturated air.D.H. wrote:No humidifier - stand alone or integrated - can deliver more humidity than the hose can hold. Re: Best machine for most humidity
Following the prior suggestions of 1) raising room temperature, and 2) using a heated hose may be enough to give you the humidity you need. If not ...SilverBullet wrote:I have had two respironics CPAP machines. I need highest humidity available. Which company provides that?
I and another user solved this problem this way.
Here is a link to my setup to solve this problem.

Re: Best machine for most humidity
When "BlackSpinner" said that you should use a stand-alone humidifier, I was assuming that she meant a CPAP humidifier that is not integrated, rather than a room humidifier. A room humidifier would not increase the total amount of moisture that the hose could hold.
If a heated hose and a higher room temperature are still not enough, then there's not much else that can be done. The only other suggestion is to determine which manufacturer's hose can reach the highest temperature and get that one.

Re: Best machine for most humidity
You can "piggy back" a second stand alone cpap humidifier to an integrated humidifier (attached to the blower or built in) with a short hose connecting both humidifiers. You lose the ability to use an integrated heated hose but there are stand alone heated hoses like the one that Hybernite offers (I have one of these that I used back in the days when heated hoses weren't integrated) and it will help a lot.
So if condensation is a problem with a second humidifier (it depends on how warm or cold you keep your bedroom) there are ways to reduce the condensation that might happen.
There's the stand alone heated hose.
There's hose cozies.
There's warming up the ambient room temperature.
If I was going to add a second cpap humidifier I would use this one.

and if condensation was a problem then I would first try hose cozies and if that didn't due the trick then I would add a stand alone heated hose like the Hybernite
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/hybern ... -hose.html
Now will piggy backing a second cpap humidifier bring you enough moisture...don't know but it just might.
Adding a whole room humidifier....I have no idea if that will help or not because most of the cpap machines will use some sort of sensor and if the room air is already X amount of humidity then the machine simply won't put out much moisture. Now if you can turn off the ambient humidity sensor (and with some machines you can turn off the sensor) then maybe you can add more moisture on top of the ambient humidity.

Re: Best machine for most humidity
The limiting factor is the capacity of the hose to hold moisture, not the machine's capacity to put it out! "Rainout" is not pleasant for the patient and is even bothersome to others in the room since it's usually accompanied by loud banging.Pugsy wrote:You can "piggy back" a second stand alone cpap humidifier to an integrated humidifier . . . .
Re: Best machine for most humidity
Trust me...I have first hand experience with the annoying things rain out can do. That's why I bought my first heated hose a long time ago before the advent of these newer integrated heated hoses.D.H. wrote:The limiting factor is the capacity of the hose to hold moisture, not the machine's capacity to put it out! So I personally know what I am talking about here and I personally prefer to use the maximum amount of humidity available AND I prefer a cold bedroom in the winter (we are talking low 50s in temp).
I never said it would be easy to add a second humidifier...just that it can be done and with the options available there stands a good chance of not having the rain out annoyance being a problem.
Heck..for all we know the OP in this thread is like my mom and keeps her house at 76 degrees in the winter...and the chances of rain out are pretty much between slim and none.
Rain out can be prevented without the use of an integrated heated hose simply by using a stand alone heated hose and/or maybe a combination of other solutions. It's far from impossible.

Exactly which models of Respironics machines...SilverBullet wrote:I have had two respironics CPAP machines. I need highest humidity available. Which company provides that?
and do you know about Classic Mode?
You might have more humidity available on your existing humidifier/machine...depends on the machine and the mode used.
