I'm new . . .
Re: I'm new . . .
Provider/clinical manual for the AirSense 10 machine can be found here
https://sleep.tnet.com/home/files/resme ... -guide.pdf
In this manual you will find out how to figure out the answers to the various questions that were asked along with some other really useful information.
It's good for you to understand your machine and with answers to the questions then we can best help you.
Pay special attention to the EPR section.
If you aren't using EPR then maybe all that is needed is to add a little bit of EPR to help with your exhale issues.

Re: I'm new . . .
NAFLD is often seen with severe OSA
In this scientific article in 20015 from Hepatology, a respected scientific journal https://www.medpagetoday.com/upload/200 ... yFinal.pdf, they say: "In conclusion, severe OSA is a risk factor for elevated liver enzymes and steatohepatitis independent of body weight. Promotion of insulin resistance is probably involved. Further studies are needed to determine whether hypoxia contributes directly to liver injury"
I guess Steatohepatitis is the same as NAFLD

[quote] I'm not sure what pressure it starts up with. According to my report, the Dr. prescribed 8-18. The person at the DME set it to "Auto" with no ramp time (said I should just try it like that for a while). EPR ? I have no idea if I am or how to find out.
I do very much appreciate the help and advice.
Thank you. [/quote
Sorry, that was me. Forgot to log in.
Also, this has nothing to do with the time between toning the machine on and me falling asleep, but my MyAir numbers for nights 3 and 4 on CPAP were both 100.

I am not all that familiar with what the MyAir numbers mean or don't mean.
I prefer to use real software to evaluate my therapy.

When you get time and feel up to it you might take a look.
Here's a thread with some examples of what you can see.

It is my impression the MyAir score is directly proportional to the hours of sleep, with 8 hours as 100.
No indication if any other factors are considered.

Re: I'm new . . .
That was my impression also and I know from personal experience that 8 hours doesn't guarantee me squat. Too many other potential variables. I feel that what MyAir and DreamMapper offers is a bit sophomoric and I suppose for some people that's enough and fine but it isn't for me. I don't have any problem if people want to use it or not use it but if someone is needing/wanting help....if sure doesn't gives us much to go on and if I am going to try to help someone I want more details so I can do a better job. My crystal ball is a big foggy lately.chunkyfrog wrote:It is my impression the MyAir score is directly proportional to the hours of sleep, with 8 hours as 100.

MyAir score from the online help (more detail available):chunkyfrog wrote:It is my impression the MyAir score is directly proportional to the hours of sleep, with 8 hours as 100.

10 points per hour up to 70
+ up to 20 points for mask seal (different scale for nasal/pillow vs ffm)
+ up to 5 points for AHI
+ up to 5 points for mask on/off ( 5 times on/off scores a zero)

Re: I'm new . . .
Thanks, Pugsy, for the link and the info. I checked the EPR and it is on and is set to be on all the time. I changed the ramp from Auto to 10 minutes. Now that I know how to access those kinds of settings, I can tweak things as needed.
As for the sophomoric MyAir numbers, they are calculated based on hours run, mask leakage AHI, number of times the mask comes off. Because I don't currently own a PC or laptop, the more sophisticated and informative SleepyHead (as well as other software) currently arn't in my toolbox.
Thanks for taking the time to help me out. I'm sure I will be just fine. I'll look into this forum down the road when I can pick up a laptop and have the means to provide better information if I need help with something.
Thank you very much,
And Take care,

Re: I'm new . . .
If you can't use the software right now there is still the data available on the LCD screen on your AirSense machine to give you a little more detail.
I think with the AirSense you have to change the setting "Essentials" to "Plus". It's all explained in the manual.
The onscreen data will give a little more detail than you can get from MyAir...less than you get with the software but if you can't use the software right now...it's not bad.
The MyAir data works great if someone isn't having a problem and is sleeping great and feeling great.
It isn't always very helpful if someone is having problems because we don't have much to go on from our side of things when we are trying to help you. Sometimes it's hard enough to come up with constructive ideas even when we see the software reports...darn near impossible when we don't have something to fuel our ideas.
Doesn't meant we won't try to help...just means it's more difficult.
