Want to try a new mask with the hose on top...

Post by DaisySmith » Thu Oct 20, 2016 9:26 am

I am doing OK with the Dreamwear but still waking up 2-3 times a night and some nights I can't even tolerate it for more than 4 hours.

Is there any other nasal mask that has the tubing above your head?

I dont think I could go back to have a tube in my face. I really wish that CPAP masks would get more innovative...there are so many invasive bulky ones. Come on technology...give us something new!

Your choices are extremely limited when it comes to hose being overhead.
There's the old Breeze

Which I personally wouldn't find appealing but people who use it love it.

If a mouth guard on the upper teeth doesn't scare you off there's the Tap Pap

I have actually used this mask and really like it.

There's the Opus which is essentially a hose on the nose routed over the head.

and along that line the Swift LT and Swift FX can also be routed over the head but the hose is still on the nose.

Hose on head seems to be a preference for those who like to route the hose off the head of the bed.
Have you ever used a hose hanger? Then hose weight is not an issue with ANY mask.
Or is it just seeing the hose in front of your face?
It does take some getting used to.

The short hose on the Swift LT nasal pillow mask can be affixed to the top of your head with a little holder that comes with it, but it still originates in front so it goes between the eyes. I like that mask because it's exceptionally light weight.

I tie a ribbon above my head and loop the hose through it. That seems to be the best non invasive way for me to keep the hose away from my face. I just loop it through the shutters above the bed but I have looped it over a curtain rod too. That way if I want to put the machine away you dont see anything. I dont like my room to look like a hospital room :-/

I assume youve tried both that one and the Dreamwear. Do you like the Dreamwear better?
