the wall to brick cord is the same, the brick to machine plug is different.

the new cord probably costs less, since it's a very common plug (used by many notebook manufacturers) while the old one is more unique, and thus probably costs more.

not that a couple bucks per plug would mean much, but manufacturers look at things like "oh, if we change that plug, it'll save us 5 million dollars"

Maybe a competitor reverse-engineered their proprietary plug.

they're not proprietary, you can order them from a decent electronic supply place, I've seen the product number,... somewhere, but they are uncommon.

the new ones are more common, and thus probably cheaper (the new plug looks like the plug on my notebook)

talking about funny plugs, my new notebook will take the power cord from my old notebook, but the power sense data on that center pin says it's not the power supply the notebook wants, and so while I think it'll charge the battery from the old cord, it won't actually RUN off wall power with the old cord. the new power supply has a slightly different plug, so you can't use it on the older equipment.

(new on left, older on right)

and the reason for all this is that the new PS is 170 watt, the old is 90... new notebook can be somewhat hungry when riled up.

The only difference in the power converter for the S9 and the AirSense is the plug on the end. They need to make a short adapter so you can plug into the S9 one and then plug into your AirSense, I have the S9 power converter. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... hines.html the difference is the plug on the end as far as I can tell. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/DC-Con ... hines.html
