Judging from some of your posts, you must have failed every science course you ever took, beginning with sixth grade science.
Ceteris paribus, water evaporates faster the higher the altitude.
What the laws of physics says it one thing; how a medical humidifier unit works is another. The problem is that above 8,000 ft., the heating element did not work, so very little evaporation occurred. By the way, the preheat still worked.
The most recent time was in Quito, Ecuador (elevation approximately 9,350 feet).
mighty funny that a machine called "everest" wouldn't work at elevation...
but, on to the meat of the issue, your addled brain suggests that "somehow" the heating element in the machine, which worked on pre-heat, would then refuse to operate at a higher elevation... riiiiiight.
laws of physics, who needs 'em, eh? just make it up as you go

If the water level is unchanged (or almost unchanged) from bed time to wake time, the humidifier is not functioning.

first, please stop posting, your stupidity level is unchanged.
Not nearly as high as your rudeness level!

When one's density level is such that subtlety is pointless......the sledgehammer approach is usually effective. I think I mighta' nailed it by suggesting the "dunderhead" nickname.
