I wear noise cancelling, in ear headphones while I sleep. I started wearing them to mask my husband's snoring, but they also completely mask any moving air sounds I get from my hose and mask.

Re: noise made by machine when you exhale - very annoying indeed. bothered me for a long time, until I tried placing the machine on floor near bed (lower than my head). and sound seems to go away. works with mine (at least for now!) doesn't hurt to try, hope it helps you.
