Amber Colored Blue Light Blocking Glasses

Post by Starlette » Wed Sep 21, 2016 12:10 am

Hi everyone, long time no pop in. Last week, I started seeing a sleep doctor who is helping me with sleep issues. One of the things he suggested is the above stated glasses for my laptop. I am having a wingding of a time of finding them. I thought I hit the gold when I came upon the website, "Clip-onSunglasses.com". Gave them what they wanted as for the measurements, provide an outline and took a picture of my glasses. Their response was "I am sorry but we do not have a clip-on for your glasses. I think that it will be hard to find a clip-on because of the shape and that they are semi-rimless". Any suggestions where to go? Tomorrow, I will post the picture of my glasses that I sent them. Now 12:09am, bedtime was at 11pm. *Shutting off computer, and running to bed."

Thank you,
Starlette

One of my work mates got a pair of these that's look more like sciencey eye protectors -big enough that they would fit over a pair of glasses. Maybe not as nice, but might be a solution until you can find a clip on pair? (No idea where they came from, presumably through occupational health)

I have these which work very well.

Starlette - You also might want to look into f.lux which dims the computer screen at night:

Yes, been using f.lux for a couple of years now, seems to work well on my Windows desktop PC. It's automatically triggered by sunset at your location. I also have a pair of the amber blue light filtering glasses that go over my regular glasses, but I find f.lux much more comfortable. I believe that f.lux is out there for both Windows PC's and Mac's. On Linux, I'm using redshift. There's an old version of f.lux for linux, but couldn't get it to work well, redshift was much better.

Most devices these days are adding "night modes". My iPad also has a blue light filter now that I've scheduled to go on at 10PM so that I have at least a couple of hours without blue light before bed time. It's called "Night Shift" in the iPad settings.

There are also blue light filters for Chrome, but in order to get those full screen you need to have the browser full screen, which isn't something that I like. And if you use anything other than your browser, those apps don't have blue light filtering and appear very bright *smile*.

I realize you are after clip on blocking glasses. I don't know if this dealer has them for sale, but I was looking for readers, the drugstores are pricing them as if they are Gold. I have placed two orders from this seller in China, the quality and shipping were very good. If others want a good source of reading glasses this is it.

http://www.newegg.com/Eyekepper

Sold by Eyekepper
Sales Order Date: 7/28/2016 1:10:25 PM
Shipping Method: Ship from Overseas(8-15 days)

I don't have a Blue Light Sleep problem, just vision getting worse. I had two orders from him, total of 8 pairs of assorted Readers, cost less than 3 pair at the drug store, and better quality. I don't like the orange/yellow, but I use them on the computer.

Just info for those in need. Jim

Took me approximately 8.5 hours to FINALLY find what I was looking for. There are times when persistence really does payoff.

Now, I can move on today.

I use red instead of amber to block green as well as blue. I also use TrueBlue sunglasses to watch things on my computer without completely blocking.

I get amber color otg (over the glasses) sunglasses at places like walmart or other big box stores. They don't usually cost more than $25. You have to dig through a lot of black glasses to find the amber tho.

Do they have to be clip on?

Gunnar Optics (Gunnar.com) makes great computer glasses. I've been using them for several years at work. And when I started seeing a sleep doc last year, I found a new use for them: I wear them in the evenings to promote melatonin production. I later had a spare frame filled with some dark-amber Rx lenses, and it was relatively inexpensive compared to the transition lenses I normally get. They are light enough to wear around the house in the evening, but also make great Rx sunglasses when I don't wear my contact lenses.

Yes, mine have clip ons.
For me, the added bonus is you can flip up the clip-on also. I really like that feature.

I get that. I'm glad you found something you like. I think it makes a big difference in getting to sleep.
