Dreamstation - Mask Type Setting?

Post by greyhound » Mon Sep 19, 2016 11:41 am

I've just started using the Resprionics Dreamstation and am unsure what mask setting should be used for my Resmed Airfit P10 nasal pillows. My DME set the setting to off, but I don't know how this setting would affect any of the reported statistics. Is off the best setting to use?

Off is the best choice when using a non Respironics mask.

But the mask resistance setting has nothing to do with any of the reported statistics anyway.
It doesn't affect leak data or anything reported by the machine even if you were using a Respironics mask and had the resistance control setting available.

the only way to truly answer that is to refer you to the list of respironics masks and their x settings, and then you can look at the specs for those masks to see what the resistance is, and then check the specs on the resmed mask, and pick a setting close to that.

and, technically, it'd also depend on which size pillows you use. smaller holes, higher resistance setting.

Thanks for the comments. Since it doesn't affect the reported statistics, I guess I'll stick with the off setting. However, I do know that (some of?) the Respironics nasal pillow masks have their settings marked as X1. I don't know whether this would be representative of other vendor's nasal pillow masks.

FFMs and most nasals are x1, pillows of smaller and smaller sizes are higher numbers:
