Injury caused by CPAP; has there ever been even one?

What I was trying to find out originally (and still want to know) is whether there was ever a CPAP accident. CPAP has been around for a over a quarter of a century now. If someone could tell me that no person was ever injured by CPAP use, I think that this might be reassuring.

I know that somebody was once injured by a CPAP that fell out of a window (not the patient), but the same could happen with a toaster, a TV set, or countless other items. The falling out the window thing probably won't be an issue.

For people like the CPAP doubting 'friend' and others of that persuasion, there's no amount of rational explanation that will change their mind.

I assume your friend lives in a padded bubble and never goes out? Certainly he should never come near a street, a car might hit him. Never ever should he put one foot in a car because tens of thousands of people are killed yearly by them. And hospitals? totally dangerous thousands die yearly just from being in one (and nothing to do with why they are there)

Just tell him to shape up or ship out because he is being a total irrational ass.

I believe there are about 30,000 deaths by automobile every year and another 60,000 seriously maimed. And some idiots are worrying about CPAP?

the best thing you can do for your alleged friend is to tell them, with all sincerity, to get a smarter friend.

Oh what the heck- it's impossible to prove that nobody has been harmed by CPAP especially when the term harm isn't defined. So, you're not going to get an answer that's absolute. The best you're going to get is that nobody has thought of a realistic way for any harm to occur. If he can put the mask on with the machine turned off and still breathe- he's good to go.

As far as vomiting- if he's so out of it that he wouldn't wake up then the mask isn't going to make any difference.

Seriously, enabling an OCD/phobic is NOT doing what is best for anyone;
and putting off REAL treatment--for the apnea AND everything else.
Enabling is a selfish, cruel act.
