Cheek Biting - Need Help!
Cheek Biting - Need Help!
I switched from a ResMed Ultra Mirage to an F&P Simplus full face mask a few months ago. I like the mask, but I found I have begun to, apparently, bite the insides of my cheeks while I sleep. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, any possible solutions are appreciated. (I'm new to the forum but have been on CPAP/BiPAP therapy for almost 10 years.)

Anything that would put a barrier between your teeth and your cheeks should do the trick. I'd try wearing a mouthguard to stop it. (Obviously, use nothing you could accidentally swallow.) Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.
Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy.

Yep, the CPAP causes me to sort of suck my cheeks in. It's intermittent. But I bought a "boil and bite" mouth guard to use when it's really bugging me. It helps. Generally I need to use it for a few nights to let the cheeks heal and then I'm OK for a while.

I used to cheek bite but after I started using a teeth grinding preventer (night guard), I've had no problems with cheek biting or teeth grinding:Janknitz wrote:Yep, the CPAP causes me to sort of suck my cheeks in. I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: Cheek Biting - Need Help!
I have this problem and I suspect that my removable dentures (one up and one down) are causing it. So I remove them before I mask and it is helpful.
