No.
Is there a chance your neighbors are making crack?

Is this a new machine or one you've been using without a problem? Did the smell come and then go or come and stay? Any smells in the room will be drawn in with the air you breathe. If your humidifier is heated and goes dry, it can cause an unpleasant odor.

I didn't smell chemicals but I awoke after two hours the first night and my throat felt like it was on fire.... it was really irritated. The next morning I started sneezing and had a cold. Frustrating!

cpaps don't cause colds, sorry about you getting a cold, or something else, the first day though.

Sounds more like a meth lab.

Try soaking your mask, your water chamber, and your hose in 50% vinegar solution for two hours. I think that the chemical smell might really be the equivalent of the infamous "new car" smell.

The machine is about 5 months old, It is different from my old machine. The smell only happened the one time and did not linger. There were no smells in the room. There was distilled water still in the tank, I have had it run out during sleep before with no problems. I do have heated tubing and a humidifier. I don't know how these machines work so I am just concerned maybe something went wrong with it and worry it may happen again.
Thank you for all your responses.

I think you may have had a strong reflux event, and if you never had it previously, it could have been a bit shocking on being awakened.

If it's a one-time event, perhaps your water chamber was dry that night.
