Perfumed Humidifier
Perfumed Humidifier
Where I use my CPAP gear the air smells a bit. I seem to remember people adding a trace of odorant to help "freshen" the air from the humidifier.
Anyone on this forum tried this.? I`m talking TRACE amounts of odorant like water soluble mint or perhaps peppermint.

Never add anything to the water. It may be too strong and you will spend the whole night cleaning.

Bad idea.....If necessary, put the smelly stuff on a cotton ball and set it next to the CPAP air intake. NOTHING in the water.

Sorry guys but that is not an acceptable reply.
Why do you think it is a bad idea? We are talking trace amounts. Perhaps a mint leaf or a vanilla drop in the 4 litre supply container.
If you like or don`t like something lets hear why.

If you don't like the answers you get...do whatever you want. (sounds like you will anyway) It's your machine.

Because it is a stupid thing to do to contaminate your humidifier. The manufacturer also says so.Respigi wrote:Sorry guys but that is not an acceptable reply.

You are breathing in this air and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) are dangerous to your health. Normally they get diluted into the air but not when they are put into the water in a cpap machine. The oils will bond to the plastic and you will ALWAYS smell it.

A number of folks have used "essential oils"......putting a few drops on a cotton ball near the air intake of the machine.Respigi wrote:Sorry guys but that is not an acceptable reply.

Don't put anything but distilled water into the HH tank. That's according to the manuals from the manufacturers.

Re: Perfumed Humidifier
Aromatic oils are INTENSE. I DO NOT KID!
One or two drops on a cotton ball OUTSIDE the air intake is best.
I have had to move the cotton up to a yard away; as the scent burned my throat.
These oils will cling to plastic, and may not EVER come out.
You might have to BURN the tank!
I'm sorry if you think your idea is a good one.
Thank goodness you asked us first.
Do as you wish; but I will only say, "I toad you so."
