Thank God for Respironics Simplicity

Post by sleeplesssue » Tue Jul 18, 2006 4:38 pm

Thank God i finally found one that works! I just had my first test run with my new small Respironics Simplicity. And it's WONDERFUL. I'm so happy I could cry. I have been non compliant with my CPAP for months because the masks just hurt my face so much, didn't fit, leaked into my eyes, made sores on my upper lip, etc.....

Those of you who remember me, I have had all kinds of trouble finding a mask to fit the dimentions of my particular face. I have narrow set eyes, the bridge of my nose is high, and even the small masks were too long. They either sat on my eyes, or on my top lip.

But now I am saved. I can't wait to sleep better again, and quit having headaches. I just had to have 3 MRI's again. One of the brain, one of the neck and one of the lower back. It looks like I have degenerative disc disease. One of my doctors said that smoking leads to degenerative disc disease (I don't smoke) because the discs in your back don't have their own blood supply. They just get oxygen that diffuses out from the bones' blood supply. If you smoke (I'm thinking if you have sleep apnea too) that your bones and discs are deprived of oxygen that they need to be healthy. So now the neck surgery I had and the lower back surgery I had don't look so great. It looks like I have problems again, and some nerve deficits. I'm not sure I'll get rid of. I'm hoping that now I can stay comliant with the CPAP and feel better and at least be as good as i am now from now on.

Thank You Respironics for making this interface. I only wish I knew about it sooner. My insurance company told me about it. I LOVE it!

Welcome back, Sue, to the site and to the world of the living. That's great that you finally found a mask that allows you to be compliant and feel well again. Your post will give many others with uncommon facial features, too, the hope that there is a mask out there that can work for them if they have the perseverance you had and don't give up looking for it. WTG!
