I guess it was too much to hope for that the fires and smoke would hold off another couple of weeks. A small hot spot east of town mushroomed yesterday in 95 degree heat with wind so this morning very hazy and smoky. Ahh, the roar of slurry bombers in the morning.

The smoke hasn't passed through the CPAP filters so far.

Please be careful, and I'm pretty sure that many Forum Folk feel the same way:

A lot of us will be thinking positively, sending prayers, good vibrations, whatever we believe--

in your behalf, and not only for your smoky-smell free CPAP!

You and your family and loved ones (pets, too) are most important.

If the Forum Folk do not know the importance of taking a deep breath of fresh air, who will?

And let us also remember the other fire-and-smoke threatened areas.

Thank you Birdshell. I think I have always taken breathing and sleeping for granted until the past six months.

At this time I think Wulfman is the regular poster nearest to some of the really big fires. Those are combination grass/brush/forest fires. There are also several forest fires in that area. We had a bit more moisture in May and June that has helped in delaying major fires for a while. As a side note, I have lived in this general area for most of my life (half a century) and for only the past eight years have the valleys so consistantly filled up with fire smoke during the summer. The main Fire Season that used to start in August now begins in early July (or earlier)... new wind and weather patterns from the "alleged" global warming?

Each area of the country has its own events that make it interesting or a little risky to live there. Our's are summer fires, occational winter storms, and very rare earthquakes (and rich folks buying up the land and posting it).

Sorry to hear your part of the state is starting to experience that, too. Actually, I started the thread to hear from ANY of the hoseheads that might be experiencing something similar to this......so I appreciate ALL of your contributions.

The last few nights have kind of been hit and miss.....depending on the wind direction and cloud cover......about 50/50 so far. The nights start out OK, but by morning, the (typical) cool mountain breezes bring the smoke down the valley. By 5:00 this morning, it was getting kind of thick. So far, I don't think much of the smokey air has come through my machine......at least I haven't had any dreams of sleeping near a campfire.
One other little incident last evening, that added to this "experience" was that a portion of town lost power for some reason. It was at least a couple of hours before they had it restored, but in the interim made me wonder how I'd sleep without my "friend".
It's also cooled off a bit in the last couple of days, so I hope that continues.

As far as "global warming" goes.....it's been warming since the last ice age.....
