Last week, I downloaded the newest version of Sleepy Head on my macbook pro- but it will not allow me to open the program, because it says it is from an unknown developer-
the work around for this, is to go to your system preferences, and click on Security and Privacy, you need to click on the unlock icon on the bottom left corner, then select the Allow Apps downloaded from "Anywhere" to open Sleepy Head- after I open the program, then I switch it back to the default mode of only opening software from Mac App Store and Identified Developers. And when I want to open SleepyHead again, then I go through the same process -I keep the program open most of the time now.
If you try to open Sleepy Head first, and then go to system preferences, it will have another choice of allowing you to open Sleepy Head, but it doesn't work- i consulted with Apple Care Technician for advice, he says there is something in the way Sleepy Head is coded that won't allow it to be opened on the macbook pro. My apple one to one trainer who I consulted with first seemed to think it should allow the exception for SleepyHead, but the Phone Technician, said he could try to trouble shoot it but it could take up to 2 hours and may not resolve the issue. This afternoon, I have an appointment with the Genius Bar to see if they can figure out how to resolve the issue. If there is a resolution, I will post it later today . . .
Update: At the Genius bar appointment, I tried to show the problem to the Genius, but it opens now, even with the known developers only selected in my system preferences- Who knows, maybe I have opened the program enough, that my computer remembers it is OK to open it now

Re: New version of Sleepy Head won't open on MacBook Pro
I'm quite happily opening and using Sleepyhead version 0.9.8-1 on a MacBook Pro, running OS X 10.10.5.
And that's with System Preferences set to "Mac app store and identified developers".
Maybe there's a problem with later versions of the op system. You don't say which one you're using.
I'm inclined to think the problem isn't with "the way SH is coded". Rather, that later versions of the op system (10.11, and 10.12) have been made less accommodating.

I also had no problem getting Sleepyhead 2+ months ago on my MacBook Pro running 10.11.6 so I don't know why you are having trouble. Hope you figure it out.

I have the latest mac software., I move it to install the program but thought that I change it back after installing it. After seeing you post I checked mine. I forgot to move it back to the middle setting. I moved it back and everything works fine. It had been on the bottom setting for a long time with no problems.
