CPAP with Ultrasonic Humidifier

Heated CPAP humidifiers burn the plastic containers and introduce poisonous and toxic chemicals into the airway. A mfg needs to produce a CPAP machine with an ultrasonic humidifier.

I have no idea of what an "ultrasonic humidifier" would do.
And, if you've got PROOF of those poisonous and toxic chemicals being put in the airways.........by all means, provide it.
The allegations and hysteria about it have been discussed many times before on the forum. Still waiting for the proof.

well, one consideration with ultrasonics is that you'd *HAVE* to use distilled water, because ultrasonics DO throw everything in the water into the air, minerals, bacteria, fungi, spores, everything, and of course, that'd go straight into your lungs. (look for 'white dust' and humidifiers. )

I do, some fool would put something besides distilled water in it, and what ever was in the wrong water you decided to use, would be forced into the air stream, and then into your lungs. (chemicals and desolved rock ect).

i think Den posted using a stand alone one, that put white dust in the room air. Jim

Just what everyone needs, white dust in their lungs. For people that haven't used ultrasonic humidifiers you have to use distilled/filtered water because the vapor also contains all of the minerals and chemicals in the water causing a white dust to settle all over everything.

Yes and they kill your electronics with that white dust! Old information from the 80's which is why you really don't want one of those.

The fact that they are pushing the ultra sonic humidifier shows they haven't got the smallest clues as to what they are talking about.

I already exclusively use distilled water in my bipap humidifer. I would never use anything but. I'm familiar with the issues of white dust in ultrasonic humidifiers used with tap water.

But answer me this. And provide actual answers, not quips or snark:

If someone used exclusively distilled water an integrated CPAP ultrasonic humidifier, what drawback would there be?

Because there's a huge benefit, in terms of travel systems: a significant reduction in power draw when using a battery as compared to a heated humidifier. It could likely also be made more compact.

I used an ultrasonic humidifier at my desk, but used distilled water in it exclusively.
The white dust is calcium from tap water--it will damage the ultrasonic unit, and possibly YOU.

It's a number of things, actually. Calcium is one of them. Even more worrisome, in some areas, it could be lead salts.

Nevertheless, my original question stands: So long as you're disciplined with only using distilled water in it, why would it be unsuited to CPAP use?
