My Chart - Feeling Strange
Hi Everyone, apparently I have had OSA for 11 years - took a long time to diagnose as I am a thin guy and most doctors dismissed my symptoms as anxiety. So, after a failed attempt at CPAP a few years ago, I decided to give it another try after hearing a recording of my snoring (or rather, gasping). I have a new Resmed S9 APAP and fired it up. First few nights were adjustment periods but I tolerated it well - AHI was below 5. Starting feeling better after a few days, in fact, felt really good for about 5 days. Then, something happened. I have never felt this awful, at least not in years. Feeling very tired, depressed, anxious and scared. Below is my chart for last night, my AHI is now mostly below 3 but I have never felt more awful, any advice? Am I missing something? Thank you in advance!

What mask do you use? Does it seem to fit well? Are you aware of leaks?

Re: My Chart - Feeling Strange
I dont know the exact model but it covers just my nose and honestly, feels just fine, doesn't really bother me at all. Not aware of any leaks either (besides what the chart shows). My only discomfort is a bit of aerophagia but its really not that bad. Really bummed (and frankly, scared) that I feel like something is majorly wrong with me from using the CPAP.
Re: My Chart - Feeling Strange
First of all, you are not going to die from using Cpap . It's much more likely that one of a few things happened, starting with how amazing we all may feel for a short time when starting out until reality sets in - it will take a bit longer than a few nights to get sorted out. Secondly, the leaks I asked about (not knowing if you use a full face vs nasal mask) would be mouth opening when asleep, losing all the Cpap air that way... not much use, and needs to be looked into. Another thing is just that you might need your low pressure bumped by a couple of cms - a start of 4 is extremely low and can make the machine take too long to reach levels where it needs to intercept new apneas... but to get a better look, download Sleepyhead software (free),
https://sleep.tnet.com/equipment
then download reports to Imgur.com and leave a link in this thread to them. Too often doctors think Apaps are magic and can catch any event, so don't set a prescribed pressure as much as just leaving the machine 'wide open', but it rarely works well for the patients. And if you're using the ramp at all, stop... again only useful to a few people (most don't use it at all) at much, much higher settings... leaving you only half treated til the ramp gets to the bottom setting.

My guess is mouth breathing

Re: My Chart - Feeling Strange
First off, thanks for the replies, much appreciated. I do have sleepyhead installed (my screenshot is from Sleepyhead) and my numbers havent really changed from the days I felt better to these last four days (where I seriously feel like death, my head is full of fizz and bubbles and I can barely keep standing at times). Not sure if mouth breathing is my issue - can these charts below shed some light on anything? I was feeling better each day until 4 days ago (Sunday / Monday) and I have been declining rapidly since then. I will post more shortly but wanted to get these charts out there first...

Another thing that occurred to me (forgot it above) is that you might have inadvertently covered the CO2 vent with bedding and rebreathed lots of CO2, not much fun!
Can't comment on your chart as I'm unfamiliar with that SH iteration.

it's the historical summary, pretty useless for this situation, unfortunately.Julie wrote:Can't comment on your chart as I'm unfamiliar with that SH iteration.

Hmm... I was thinking of this too... I am guessing there really isnt a way to see that without an oxygen saturation sensor, right?
Re: My Chart - Feeling Strange
You can more easily just (being summer it should be easy) not expose the vent to bedding...
Can you look at the first Tutorial on the main pg and download a proper version of SH?

Sorry but I am running v.1.0.0-beta-2 (cb213cc) which appears to be the latest version according to the download page and the updater, is there a newer version out there somewhere?Julie wrote:Can you look at the first Tutorial on the main pg and download a proper version of SH?
