Respironics Dreamstation vs. System One Differences?

Post by greyhound » Tue Aug 09, 2016 11:20 am

Aside from the size difference, is there any significant difference between the Respironics Dreamstation Auto and the older System One Auto with Bluetooth?

The only difference I noticed is that the humidifier on the Dreamstation is easier to use by those who have hand dexterity problems. The algorithm appears to be the same. We only had the machine as a loaner for my bro for 9 days while waiting for a replacement cord for his System One Bipap.

No difference in how the machine does it's job...the algorithm wasn't changed as far as I know.

I read the provider manual for the DreamStation (I haven't actually seen a DreamStation machine) and there appeared to be a couple of minor feature differences.
You might go over to the apneaboard and request the provider manual for it and read it.
Only thing that really caught my eye was maybe a little more customization of the humidity with the heated hose attached.
The did change the PB name calling to CSR but now that will probably scare people because it appears that all PB will get called CSR and all PB isn't CSR.

If paying totally out of pocket...not enough "new" features to warrant the extra expense IMHO.
But some people feel better having the latest and greatest and that's worth something too.

Since I haven't ever even seen a DreamStation I don't know if they are maybe a little less noisy for those that think Respironics machines are a bit noisy. I have never thought any of mine (M series or various PR S1) were noisy so I probably wouldn't be a good judge of that aspect but typically as Respironics has brought out new models they were a bit less noisy than the previous models in terms of motor/fan noise.
