Best Pillow for Dreamwear

Post by Snoozeless » Thu Aug 04, 2016 4:25 am

I am mostly a side sleeper and I use the dreamwear. I have to hang my head off the pillow, then "hug" another pillow with part of it supporting my chin. However, I use a regular pillow and it is killing my neck (herniated disk + degeneration) and shoulders. Does anyone love their pillow and can make a recommendation?

I wonder if this might help both your neck and your CPAP effectiveness --->
I like the DMI Universal Firm Foam Cervical Collars -
http://www.walmart.com/search/?query=DM ... %20Collars

The firm works better and lasts longer than the soft. There seems to be no loss in comfort with the firm over the soft.

The cells in the foam break down over time. One lasts me about four months.

Typically the 3-inch width fits a smaller person, and the 3.5-inch or 4.0-inch fits a larger person. Some may need to change the size up or down on the second order. The larger size you can wear, the more support to keep the jaw from dropping.

Walmart ships free to your closest store for customer pickup.

I use a high density memory foam cervical/orthopedic pillow. The higher the density, the more firm it is so that you can lay your head on the edge when side sleeping. The ribbed or fluted version tend to be cooler as well (like top version in picture below).

I can't remember where I got mine ... been using it for over 8 years though.

I use the Dreamwear mask and love the Contour CPAP Pillow for side sleeping. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/contou ... oCtxXw_wcB. It's not as tall as I needed, so I glued a half-inch thick piece of foam to the bottom of the pillow (just the portion under my neck).

I'm a side sleeper also. Lately I've been switching pillows. Some nights a firm pillow works and some nights I like a softer pillow. I always use a cervical collar roll (Amazon) with both the firm and the softer pillow. What works best is the pillow that works for you. Many bed pillows have been mentioned here... you might do a search for bed pillows at the top of the first page. Also, a firm cervical collar (like the one CG mentioned) is a great idea also, and might be all you need.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a ton of pillows and really hate them all.

I bought one of these:
https://www.contourliving.com/cpapmax-pillow/

I really like it, the actual cut outs work great with the FFM I use. It has a 3/4" insert you can take out if it's too high. It take a few minutes for the foam to soften up but then it's great. Strangely enough I've grown to like it to the point that if I was suddenly, magically cured of apnea I'd keep the pillow.
