full face mask air problem

Post by stan Harris » Sun Jul 31, 2016 2:43 am

I have a RESMED quarto full face mask. It is very satisfactory, but, the air exhaust blows on my wife next to me. The "flap" opens in use but air vent is excessive.

the "flap" only opens when the cpap is turned off, so you can breath, it's a safety feature. the air is coming from the holes over your nose.

unless, of course, your anti-asphyxiation valve is broken, in which case you'd have an excessive leak notification.

I find I just need to move up the bed a bit so it doesn't hit my partner. Or, try a different mask, they don't all vent in the same place. (Although if this mask fits, works and doesn't leak - things like a barrier pillow/ blanket, change of sides or positions,pj's that cover more etc might be worth trying first)

if I were still using that mask, I'd experiment with a spare filter and see if I could make a diffuser, like some of the other masks are coming with these days.

I think later model masks in that line, like the Quattro Air and Airfit F10, have better diffusers. The fit is similar.

Quattro Air

I remember that mask and it was like a leaf blower. I went to the Quattro Air and it is a better mask in all respects. The exhaust air is a non issue and the gel cushion design seals well and is easier on your nose and face. See if you can acquire one. Regards
