It's really a non-problem. However, use masking tape and mark both parts of machine, the power brick, the case and your mask with your last name and phone number.

My experiences with APAP during hospital stays:

My Doctors encouraged my bring the equipment and using it

After quick checks of the equipment by hospital engineering (for safety markings and general condition), items were stickered and return to me.

Both Nurses and RTs understood the reason for the equipment.

The RTs provided "t" fittings for porting in O2 per Doctors orders

Hospital provided sterile water for use in the water chamber.

No changes were made to machine settings. The settings were ordered by the Sleep Doc, and no RT or other staff member would change that.

Do you think that those nurses and the physician on duty don't know how to make you go to sleep without the CPAP? Of course they do.

Wierd...Wierd...Wierd....You didn't use your CPAP because the nurses knew how to make you go to sleep without it?
not weird, just avi, and his detachment from reality.
Probably avi123 is alluding to sleeping pills, maybe even heavy-duty opioids. Being avi123, they probably had him sedated for the better part of every day and night That said avi, I hope you heal up fast and get back on CPAP.

Imagine, I was staying in the Urology Dept. of UNC Chapel Hill hospital. It's a teaching hospital and huge in size. There were there more than 20 MDs doing their residency in Urology and every day another one of them took a turn. These Docs knew nothing about CPAPS. Because the operating and recovery rooms were miles away, no RT would come that far to look at my CPAP. Also, none of the nurses (including many male nurses) agreed to touch my CPAP. So I just skipped using it. Only one of those residents MDs objected to me taking my Zolpidem 10 mg tablet for sleep. He said that no one of his patients above the age of 80 years old would be allowed to take this medication. So I explained to him that I have been taking this low dose sleep tablet for more than 25 years. So he said OK. But I had my tablets hidden and took it every night on my own. If I had to rely on them to go and get the medication from the hospital pharmacy it would never be done. The nurses there did not care if I looked and behaved like a Zombie because of lack of sleep.

wow, do you know no ends to your stupidity?

not using your cpap, hindering your recovery, sneaking drugs, mixing those with whatever else they were giving you...

as usual, folks, avi123 is an excellent example of what not to do in your life.
