dried hose with machine w/ water in tank? safe???
Re: dried hose with machine w/ water in tank? safe???
The A/C isn't forcing air into my lungs. Maybe it's just me but I like to take baths and wash my clothes too.

Re: dried hose with machine w/ water in tank? safe???
One thing I've always meant to point out....unlike your body...... the pap machine/humidifier comes without an immune system in place. And....placing blind faith in proclamations made by corporations can lead one into trouble often as not. Distilled water is not sold as "sterilized" water, and as such, probably contains some bacteria that was acquired during the bottling procedure. Many accounts of "pink slime" formations in reservoirs have been posted here in the past. That doesn't occur in a vacuum, so to speak. This points to a definite breach in what some like to view as a virtual closed/sealed environment. I personally do not care if one chooses to fill their tank with Beijing sewer effluent, or, if they choose to err on the side of caution and clean their hose once in a while. I do care when members deign to pontificate and make statements as absolute fact with little data in support of same. The chart linked below is for anyone that'd like to ponder the effectiveness of their hypo-blah-blah pollen filter in arresting the passage of agents smaller than pollen's 10 micron smallest particle size. (bacteria ? 0.3 microns. virus ? 0.005 microns !) Still think that filter of yours is all that and a bag of chips ? Good luck ~ http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/parti ... d_934.html

neither is your cpap. all the air that goes into your lungs is what your lungs pull in.... if it was forcing air into your lungs, you'd explode like an overinflated balloon by the end of the night.mummmz wrote:The A/C isn't forcing air into my lungs. air that's gone through the cpap, just like during the day, your lungs pull in air that's gone through the A/C.... which is where legionaries disease was discovered.
best get to washing and sanitizing that AC.

According to the Fisher & Paykel Healthcare site, water vapor is 0.0001 microns.
Too small to carry bacteria or viruses out of the HH tank.

Hmm, so the legionairre's in my AC could float along to the CPap intake, get through the filter, then sit in the water and multiply. Then it can become airborne through evaporation and blow into my lungs, or at least down my throat which leads to my lungs. Seems like dumping out that old water and rinsing out the humidifier tray would be a good way to cut down on the bugs.

So. They don't need to be if they're borne by the airflow itself. The air only passes over the water's surface, it's not scrubbed and turbulated through the water like an old oil-bath air cleaner of yore. If anything starts to bloom in the moist environment of the tube, the resulting spores will have an easy ride on the prevailing "wind".Wulfman... wrote:According to the Fisher & Paykel Healthcare site, water vapor is 0.0001 microns.

Ugh. Woke up this morning with more redness spread up over my nose. Went to the doctor's office and found out it wasn't a pimple.
Cellulitis. Freaking cellulitis. In and on my nose.

Yup, I got cellulitis, caused by my cpap, not quite sure how it got on my calves, but I'm SURE it was a dirty mask that did it.mummmz wrote:Cellulitis is a bacterial infection....now there's a good case for cleaning your mask.Re: Temporary suggestion to improve pillow comfort

Umm...hers is on her nose.
I'm thinking about the legionnaire's you've discovered in my A/C. When did you come to check it?

If you read her full post you'll see it started when she was using a different mask.

whatever you do, don't look into where your water supply originates, you might start considering how many kidneys it's been through.Grace~~~ wrote:Thanks for that random thought, palerider.palerider wrote:.
