mask vibrating away from face with air leak
mask vibrating away from face with air leak
nearer the morning time the full face mask almost feels like the pressure is pushing away from the face and making a loud leaking noise like a raspberry sound at the slightest movement. I am very new but did not notice it the first several days. I have the resmed Quattro air. Any thoughts.
Re: mask vibrating away from face with air leak
I found that the silicone softened up a little as I used my mask. You might have to adjust the straps. Have you washed the mask in mild, soapy water? You should also wash your face right before bed and don't put any lotions on your face.
What mask, machine, and pressure are you using? If you add your equipment profile you might get more suggestions. Download SleepyHead and post your readings. You can find instructions in the pinned post at the top.

Re: mask vibrating away from face with air leak
Overnight your face muscles tend to relax....the full face mask you are using may need a mask liner. Go to padacheek.com and look at the mask liners for your mask.

And, if you'll provide more information ( machine make/model, pressure settings, etc. ), we'll be able to tell you what they are.
Obviously, your mask isn't adjusted to withstand those pressures......whatever they are at that point.
If you're using an APAP in a range of pressures and it's jacking up the pressures, you need to adjust the mask for the highest pressures that will be encountered. If you aren't willing to do that, you need to adjust the settings of your machine so it doesn't go that high.

I have the ResMed Airsense 10 for her. settings are preset and I can not change. They are low 8 high 16. The mask is Quattro Air for her size small.Wulfman... wrote:Yes.Diane913 wrote:nearer the morning time the full face mask almost feels like the pressure is pushing away from the face and making a loud leaking noise like a raspberry sound at the slightest movement. Of course you can. It's YOUR therapy and YOU need to take control of it. The sooner YOU do, the better it will be.Diane91360 wrote:I have the ResMed Airsense 10 for her. settings are preset and I can not change. They are low 8 high 16. Here's a link to download the manual. Read it, become familiar with your machine and tweak your settings for optimal therapy.

stop saying you can't do something that wulfman say you can do, because he knows more than you do.
put your machine in your account profile.

Re: mask vibrating away from face with air leak
I should add this is a common problem starting out. We even have a phrase that covers it - mask farts.Diane913 wrote:making a loud leaking noise like a raspberry sound at the slightest movement
It often takes some experience tinkering with mask adjustments to solve the problem. Over time, my mask straps get stretched, and the mask starts farting. Then I readjust the straps.
