Possible Cheaper Filter Alternative
Possible Cheaper Filter Alternative
Been using a CPAP for about 6 mos now. No issues. I was just wondering though has anyone ever suggested or thought of using Pellon for filters? It's a polyester fleece material (the same feel & thickness of the filters I've been receiving) that you can buy at material stores by the yard for cheap. Then just cut the size pieces you need for your CPAP filter area. Not really seeing any downside to this idea myself, but thought I'd ask others out there. TIA

You can buy quantities of filters for your specific machine for as little as .50 each (in quantities) on e-bay...Don't mess with something that can damage your machine. I change my filter every 4-6 months. A couple dollars a year doesn't hurt very much.

I wouldn't recommend DIY filters unless you know all about the substitute material's air flow & filtering properties. Looks can be deceiving. Also are you sure of it's chemical make-up and stability ? Any off-gassing possible ? As mentioned above, I obtained a bag of 50 hypoallergenic filters for my S9 for approx. $22. I still haven't made a significant dent in them after 1.5 years. Good luck.

Save a Dime, Waste the Dollar. Sure cut them out, leave loose fibers to be pulled thru your machine, then breath them, sounds like a great idea....LSAT wrote:Kimmie wrote:Been using a CPAP for about 6 mos now. No issues. The real filters are melted to a backing to stop this, in reality the filter material is melted or glued into the backing. Jim
