New CPAP user... very swollen and red lips !!!

Post by Parhotte » Tue Jul 05, 2016 11:34 am

Been thirty days on a CPAP with a humidifier ... I love the new energy I have and want to continue using it ...

I wake up every morning with lips that should be on a fish !! swollen and puffy... burning just like I have had an allergic reaction ... I have changed nasal masks and even went to a cloth one (in case I was allergic to the other masks) ... I have given up using blistek and gone to Vaseline and that does not help... I'm thinking that a heavier lip balm or block would be the answer ...
HELP !!! I cant seem to find anyone else who has experienced my situation... No dietary changes on my end ....
Lips burning as I type this ....

Regards
Richard

I doubt cpap could have any connection to this.
Consider something else in your environment.
Clean mask thoughly with MILD soap before first use, just in case of factory residue.

That sounds a lot like an allergy and you can test it by taking a low dose antihistamine (Claritin etc) overnight to see if it works. If so, you're going to have to make a change, if only to a nasal mask and use other means to keep your mouth closed.

Sounds like you may have to stop watching the Kardashians on TV, you may have caught something from them.

You should probably check with your primary Dr or a dermatologist. This could be a an irritant contact dermatitis which would be independent of the material. There are some ways to treat it.

Read the tips--try following the advice.
Otherwise, call your doctor.
This is only the second report of this problem in nearly FIVE years,
so it is darn near unique.
Too bad the original poster ghosted us.
It would have been nice to know . . .
