Thanks for everyone's ideas so far.

I am not plagarizing.

I am mainly writing about my personal experiences and will try to get more people to know about sleep apnea.

No problem. My bad. I was being a bit of a jerk. Maybe more so than usual.
I wish you the best with your book.

Book?

What book?

We don need no stinking book!

We have an interactive CPAP forum with tens of thousands of member authors ....

So yeah, probably more effective to just publish a flyer pointing people to this forum.

DreamStalker,

I am working on writing a book. The book is probably not for people that actively read a sleep apnea forum like yourself since everyone here already knows much about sleep apnea.

I am trying to write a book to help people.

Please let me know if you have any additional advice.

DreamStalker,

Thanks for writing to me that "We don need no stinking book!"

This does not come across as very nice.

I am just trying to write a book to help people and maybe save lives by having more people learn about sleep apnea.

Please let me know if you have any additional advice.

DreamStalker Really your post is not helpful. To tell me to just publish a flyer and point it to this forum is no helpful.

I am trying to write a book to help people.

Maybe I should just stop posting in this forum.

You seem really not nice at all. OR are you also being facetious?
Guilty on both counts!

I've never published a book ... chapters, reports, peer reviewed articles yes, but never a book.

Writing a book requires a lot of research unless it is going to be fiction ... and even then it helps to do research.

The whole forum is loaded with information on sleep apnea but you don't seem willing to do the research ... basic searches even?
pumbany wrote:I am writing a book on sleep apnea and wanted to know if anyone had any interesting topics that they can suggest that I can include in the book?
Really? What is interesting is completely relative to who you ask .... and there are tens of thousands of members to this forum.
pumbany wrote:The book is for people that want to learn about sleep apnea and to try to get more people to know about it,
Well at least you have somewhat defined your target audience. Who wants to learn about sleep apnea? Have you answered that question for yourself because that too may be somewhat subjective. Why do you want to get more people to know about it? Perhaps that answer leads to other answer?
pumbany wrote:I attended an annual toastmasters conference to hear the final speech competition. Before the contest there were seminars and I ended up going into the seminar called "How to turn your speech into a book".

I started working with the instructor and thought about different topics for books and decided to write one on sleep apnea.

If anyone has any advice, on interesting topics to cover please let me know. So far I have written 8,000 words for the book.
8.000 words ... and you still don't have any interesting topics to cover. What do the 8K words convey? a definition? a problem? a proposed solution? or Hi, my name is pumbany and I've written this book to inform you of what CPAPTalk members think are interesting topics on sleep apnea?

Oh, so now you are writing mainly about YOUR personal experiences ... well how are we supposed to provide you topics on YOUR experience with sleep apnea if we have no idea what your experience with sleep apnea is, especially when you just joined the forum yesterday?

Actually, that is the most helpful advice I can give to you, your potential book reading target audience, and anyone who would read such a flyer.

LSAT I do not understand your post. Why did you highlight that one line in red?

Dreamstalker,

You are not being nice. I am writing a book about sleep apnea.

I asked for any advice to see if anyone had any interesting ideas.

I am writing a book to try to help people. The book will be about sleep apnea and my personal experiences too.

Not everyone reads Forums and books are another medium to reach people.

I am just trying to do something good and help people.

With all due respect to your idea of using apnea for a book (because you happen to have it), maybe try something else that hasn't already been done to death by now in other books, never mind forums, You Tube, etc, apart from there being very strong high tech elements to it that would require you, I think, to do serious research and learning that may not be your 'thing'. I'm sure you've had other experiences in your life that you could develop but that may not need to ream already exhausted info. from so many sources. But don't necessarily expect everyone to be 'nice', adult life isn't like that unfortunately.

The negative responses may be in response to your unwillingness to share information about yourself:
How long have you had apnea? What led to your diagnosis? How did you learn what you know about apnea?
We have already spilled our guts on this; so if you are saving it all "for the book", there is not much we can say.
Read the forum; it goes back years, and thousands of posts; and other papers on the web, etc.
They call it "research"; and no, we will not do it for you.
Go ahead and warn people about the 500 pound gorilla in their beds; but it has to be your own work.
Be sure to credit all sources.

IF YOU HAVE ADVICE PLEASE GIVE IT. IF YOU HAVE NO ADVICE THEN PLEASE DON'T RESPOND.
My advise I freely give to you and it is ... good luck with that.
