full face mask problems

Post by busyb » Thu Jun 30, 2016 2:19 pm

I have a patient that is using a Simplus FFM, his problem is in the tightening of the bottom straps, He is suffering from his jaw popping out of the socket due to tightening of the lower straps. I have tried a couple of FFM , the amara view, mirage Quattro, Quattro FX. All with the same problem. he has to tighten the bottom straps down. I tried the dreamwear mask with a chin strap but that did not work as pt was not able to get a full breath. He is on high pressures 20/9 cm. Does anyone know of a mask that might work, without having to tighten the bottom straps to the point where his jaws pop

The jaw problem should be diagnosed by a TMJ specialist. I had the problem a year ago and thought it was the Quattro FF mask that I had been using for 6 years. I went to a TMJ specialist and had special x-rays taken and was shown that my jaw bone on one side was wearing faster than the other. There are treatments for that. I elected to wait. Possible the problem is showing up because of improper fit of the mask....especially if he needs to tighten it so much.
