Forgot my mask last night, feel like crap..

Post by CPAP_DAD6 » Wed Jun 15, 2016 4:50 am

Well I was noticing small baby step improvements in my dally life since starting Bipap two weeks ago. I didn't think there was a huge difference until now... I managed to fall asleep last night with out putting my cpap on. Today I feel groggy with brain fog and drinking redbull.

So lesson learned. Onec night away from cpap and cappy feeling returns..

Yep... I shudder to think how I'd feel after sleeping a night without cpap. I guess the only way that'll happen is if the electricity goes out all night.

Exactly how I felt when I was still doing trials with several machines. I thought it had little to no effect. Until the day the trials ended and had to return the machines. The next day right after the first night without a machine was @#$%¥!

Immediate bought 2 machines, a main one and a travel one.

That will happen. Just like diet mishaps, don't beat yourself up and just get back on track the next night.

I keep my spare machine and one set of everything I use in a night in a plastic container in my bedroom closet. That way if I head out in the motorhome or out visiting, I just grab my container and I am good to go..... never forget to pack anything. That's one headache I don't need is to have forgotten an item I will need during my travels. When I first started out years six ago, I forgot to hose back up after a bathroom break , regretted that error the next day... big time I never forgot again, one time was way too much.
Cheers
Nan

On a few occasions I've woken up and gone to the bathroom while still in a half asleep state. I get back to bed and fall asleep before putting the mask back on. The next day is not a pleasant one!

I once forgot my long hose when traveling. Didn't realize what had happened until around 10:30 PM and there's nothing that could have been done at that time of the night.
I had been using cpap for 3 or 4 years...every night.
So I slept without the mask for the first time in years...horrible night's sleep...woke up multiple times and the nocturia returned and the killer headache returned the next morning and I felt like crap all day.
So much for the "holdover effect" there was none for me. One night without cpap and I was back to square one.

The next day (Saturday on a holiday weekend) I found 1 place that was open so that I could buy a long hose...paid $30 for a cheap generic hose that would have been $6 anywhere else...but it was the best $30 I ever spent.

I fell asleep last night before putting my mask on. Slept horribly, woke up multiple times and tossed and turned all night. Utterly and completely exhausted today, to the point that I had to lay down and take a nap. Never again!

That part DID jump out at me, but I didn't want to be too mean.

Our last power outage was the fault of our tree.
That miserable maple has an appointment with the arborist.
Objective: execution. Then firewood.
I do not take losing my good sleep well---AT ALL!

If I don't use my CPAP I simply can't sleep very well at all... it's just a series of semi-wakeful tossing and turnings. It's a little scary to be so dependent on a device but there you have it. Hope we don't have a nuclear winter or zombie apocalypse with no electrical power or I'm in deep trouble. I guess that's why God invented those little lead pills to help us get to that really deep sleep.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
