What I was reacting to was Pugsy's blanket statement that "...posting links to competitors online is frowned upon". Many of us do this from time to time (especially those of us who do not live in the USA and for one reason or another are unable to order from cpap.com) and Pugsy's statement clearly suggested that we are in violation of the rules for the forum.

From the explanations provided (thanks Pugsy and palerider), it appears that Pugsy's point was somewhat overstated

I believe, (certainly not trying to speak for Pugsy), (edit: I see she already answered) that she was directing that comment towards someone that was perceived to be representing another online business.... things like mentioning the website multiple times, and that "shipping is free blah blah" bit certainly sounded like someone trying to slip an ad in...

it's kinda like reading reviews on amazon, when the review keeps mentioning the full complete product name and model number, that's often a marketer placed paid review... (or so says an article I read on how to critically read reviews and things to look out for).

I remember when that hose went up on indigogo, I think the inventor even posted here, I know he posted over on that nanny site and met with a very skeptical audience, (who didn't even bother to try to understand crowdfunding). It fell way way short of making it's modest target, pricewise... a few people wanted it, but not many.

one thing they don't tell you is how many times can you stretch it open and collapse it without the hose tearing. Probably less than 100. Also, when you unlock the collapsed hose it expands forcefully and could hit you but hopefully not in your face. I wonder if it carries FDA approval?

OK, so I bought one (from our hosts, of course) and used it last night. I was getting psych'd to return it but was pleasantly surprised that it worked rather well. There was only a small amount of "inhalation noise" and it never got tangled or in the way. Although its a tad heavier than my 15 mm unheated, it felt a lot lighter, probably because its more flexible. Also, the 22 mm hose had a different feel, but I soon got used to it. All in all, I woke up thinking I could get used this while travelling and during those months when I don't use the heated hose/humidifier.

The downsides: it feels fragile, like it would simply wear out in a few months if used continuously. Also, it would not survive two seconds if my cat took a liking to it! I was expecting it to be lighter, buts its actually heavier than a basic hose, especially with the extra tube used for holding it the compressed position. Compressing it takes a little work, and I wonder if that would cause it to wear out faster. The end fittings are hard plastic, not soft - it held my mask and cpap well, but didn't hold my "muffler" (which I didn't need last night). This issue could be solved with a bit of tape.

The upside: in the compressed mode its about a third the size of a 15mm hose. Not a huge advantage unless, like me, you are a minimalist packer. For instance, I just got back from a 6 day trip during which my one small suitcase, including cpap, fit under the airplane seat!

Bottom line - I'll keep it and use it on short trips and maybe carry it as a backup on longer trips.

Yes, I was thinking that a few feet of duct tape might get into my travel pack - one never knows when it would come in handy!

Yes, but a roll is the least efficient way to carry a small amount of duct tape. Perhaps we can find a better place to put it?

people that want to carry some duct tape pull off a few feet of it, then roll THAT up into a tight cylinder

Rescue tape works better than duct tape, and is lighter. However it is more expensive.

When we traveled to Europe, we flattened our duck tape. Just smush the roll into an ellipse, then really flat.
