hi everyone, i was reading old posts and i found this one, see link below. the person writing is skeptical the person will do what needs to be done to eat healthy, exercise, reduce stress, etc, along w use CPAP. ive heard others throughout my life say this is what you need to do, but most people dont do it. i understand thats an objective fact. but for the ones who DO DO IT, what makes them different? just curious, thinking out loud...

Re: overall self care
We already know that a large number of positive behavioral changes are triggered by a significant life event.
(Heart attack, stroke, etc.). It appears to be how we are wired.
To go against the "pattern", we need motivation and HARD WORK.
Not everyone has the tools to do this for an extended period, but it can be learned. The dilemma is from where?
"Weight loss" is big business, especially REPEAT BUSINESS. Likewise, motivational programs.
No permanent solutions are offered--if you find any, please share. They are out there. They have to be.

Re: overall self care
hi chunky, what youre saying is interesting. its inline with what i think, which I really hope it not true.
i often tell my friend that no matter how hard ive tried, i cannot lose weight in any sustained manner and i said i am entirely convinced that eventually i will but it will take a heart attack or a stroke to prompt me to do it and hopefully i survive that.
im not sure how else to look at it. its quite a challenge and i have been unable to tackle it despite trying every single day.

Re: overall self care
Maybe if you imagine it has ALREADY HAPPENED?
You know it can, close to WILL!
Psych yourself into giving yourself a second chance--proactively.
You never know how close you already are to TOO LATE!
People beat the odds every day. Positive self-talk works for a lot of people.
Just banish the negative thoughts, and picture yourself a winner.
I have achieved some of my goals (so far), and it helped to mentally lift myself above the rut.
