Amara View sizing question

Post by MrMips » Sat May 21, 2016 10:44 am

Hello Everyone,

I'm just starting out on and am trying the Philips Resperonics Amara View mask with mixed results. I was first given a size "Small" which really squashed my nose if I tightened the mask at all so I traded in for a "Medium" and after one night my nose still feels like it was compressed during the night. I measured the distance from my philtrum to the tip of my nose and it is just about 7/8". Does anyone know what the correct size of the "Amara View" mask this measurement indicates?

FYI: I am a 5'10" tall, 190 lb., 66 year old male who wear a short beard.

Thanks to all you beautiful dreamers, I hope to join you soon!

I have never seen that particular measurement as a data point for mask cushion size.
So...being a not quite 5 ft tall female I went and tried to measure the same data point on myself. Near as I can tell I am probably real close to your same measurement and I used a Small in the Amara View.
Did you know you don't have to trade out the entire mask to try a different size? Meaning all sizes of cushions will fit that frame so if you want to try the Large all you need is the Large cushion..

If your nose is feeling squished I would also re-evaluate mask strap tension. That would be my first thought anyway...you might have the straps a little too tight.

There is a fitting guide that you can print off to get a better idea as to sizing needs. Have you seen it?

The sizing guide for the Amara View only measures how far your nose sticks out from your face. I've lost track of who, but a really helpful user here uses a L while his wife uses a M, and he measured the two cushions and they are exactly the same height and width, and only the depth is different. Also all three sizes use the same frame. All of this points to the mask only coming in one size as far as height and width.

I was a small or an x-small in an F10, and I have a medium Amara View. The mask is slightly too wide and too tall, so I have to cinch the straps more than I would like. I'm actually thinking of trying a large, because my nose feels kind of squished, too. According to the sizing guide, though, I'm right in the middle of a size M, so maybe that would just result in leaking-like-crazy...

Despite the sizing problems, I really like the mask a lot. It fits better than the F10 ever did.
